Logic and Language Skills
Why Learn Logic Skills For better or worse,
rule- and pattern-based thought and processes appear in many arts and
sciences in daily life, in society and in science or technology. You
need to know how to apply rules and patterns one at a time and one
after another to arrive at results or conclusions, one at a time and
one after another. Here an error is one step leads to an error, growing
or not, large or not, in all the following steps of reasoning or
operation. Precision is required. The ability to read and apply rules
and patterns one at a time and one after another to arrive at results
or conclusions, one at a time and one after another, is useful in
situations where the rules and patterns are reliable, and circumstance
for application are available. In a desert free of supplies and
nourishment, even the most thoughtful will reach no conclusion. The
ability to read precisely what is written and to recognize what is
precisely written is needed to recognize errors of logic or haste in
your own thoughts or that of others.
A. Reading Stories - Watch for Implications
Allusions may be present or implied by social context in stories.
There additional meaning or possibilities, the allusion and implications,
may and should in the mind of the writer or the reader. In that style of
communication, words and sentences may rely on common knowledge or myths
to communicate a scene or image enjoyable and informative.
B. The need for Precision
The technical skill of writing and reading exactly what is meant or what
you mean will help in studying, teaching and applying mathematics,
science, law and many other arts or discipline where precision is a must
for skill or know-how mastery. Site chapters on logic and consistent
story telling explain how. See 1A
In technical writing present in mathematics and law, words need to read
and written with precision (to be taken literally) to avoid confusion or
in the case of small print in agreements, obligations one will not enjoy.
When another presenting an agreements says sign here, the ability to
understand the agreement in full, without confusion, is a common and
daily need.
The first part of online Volume 1, Elements of Reason, may help develop
your logica and language skills. The chapter on Deception and Hype, Hype,
Hype Hoorary in reason and persuasion may be skipped, or not. See what
chapters you like.
C. Self-Defense - Being Cautious
Before you sign a contract or agreement with another person or a large
institution, you need to understand fully the duties and obligations of
your self and the other party. If not, you are taking a risk. Where
numbers are involved, take the time to understand what they mean. Get
another, an expert in numbers, to explain the risks, or what is right or
not, with the contract. Trust but verify should be your rule. When you
are dealing with matters that require a contract or a signature, any
person who is fair and honest should give you time to read the contract
or agreement offered to you. Any pressure to do otherwise is a sign of
trouble and impoliteness, and may be reason to walk away. And in the case
of money matters, money unspent in your pocket is usually provides the
ability to tell other parties to wait until you are ready to sign.
Employees of institution may ask others to sign similar agreements many
times each day. However, for you the agreement and the obligations in it
are both unique and large. Your first obligation in signing contracts is
to yourself and your family. In contrast, the first obligation of the
another is to him or her-self, or to his or her employer. So take your
time. What is good for them may not be good for you. Finally, in any
contract or agreement you sign, look for or in put exit options, so that
if matters do not go as planned, or if there has to be a parting of the
ways, there is a agreement on how to separate or end mutual committments
in a way that is fair to all concerned.

Teachers & Tutors: Site pages offer better or best practices for providing skills -
simpler than expected & comprehensive but for exercises. For your charges, your duty is to study them alone or in
groups and develop skill building exercises & activities to share. Start now. The effort here is the best I can do.
Others are welcome to refine or exceed it. Please do.

justice, guilt beyond a reasonable doubt goes unrespected due to prosecutors who putting winning
first, those innocence before the law may be convicted. Some procescutors offices in continuing to accuse after a pardon
due to reasonable doubt or innocent being shown, may sucessfully oppose compensaton for false convictions
by asserting a pardon individual is still under suspicion. Then the pardoned individual or the latter's estate

Work Booklets for ages 3+ to 13 Use these or others to check
or build skills. Other booklets are available but these booklets
allow parents unsure of themselves in mathematics to help their
children. The selection acquired in Canada is published in the
USA. So it has a US orientation. In retrospect, the selection
shows parents what to check with the booklets or by other ways,
the choice is theirs. But in retrospect, the selection does not
cover integral and fractions liquid weights and measures - ask
the publishers to correct that! For ages 9 to 12 say, parents may
compensate by showing boys and girls how to use weights or mass,
and further measures in food preparation. Beyond that children
may be shown how to measure and calculate angles, lengths and
areas [proportional amounts too] directly or by using maps and
plans drawns to scale. Learning how to gather and measure all the

Unsolicited Advice
Learning to do and high marks if it comes to easy is often
deceptive - light rather than deep. For that reason, students
with learning difficulties determined not to let it get in their
way may go deeper and farther than those with none. High marks,
if the come easy, may be deceptive - provide a too light and not
a deep mastery. That could have been your problem in secondary
school, one that leads to comprehension shock or difficulties in
calculus and more generally in the first year of college. Bon
Appetite.
